What Does Embrace Cover?

Embrace’s accidents and illness plan has you covered in unexpected situations. The range of illnesses this plan covers is wide and goes from minor digestive issues to severe diseases. Some of the common cat and dog illnesses this pet insurance covers include cancer, pneumonia, giardia, vomiting, and diarrhea.

Breed-specific and genetic conditions such as patellar luxation, hip and elbow dysplasia, intervertebral disk disease, thyroid conditions, or brachycephalic syndrome are also covered.

Car accidents, broken bones and toenails, intoxication, foreign matter ingestion, poisoning, bloat, or dental trauma are also eligible for reimbursement.

You can claim reimbursement for

  • Vet visits
  • Tests
  • Treatments and therapies
  • Medical procedures
  • Surgeries
  • Prosthetics and mobility devices
  • Prescription medicine
  • Follow-up care

The alternative therapies Embrace covers include acupuncture, chiropractic care, hydrotherapy, physiotherapy, therapeutic laser treatment, and behavioral therapy.

Embrace also offers coverage of up to $1,000 per year for dental accidents and illnesses, including tooth repair, tooth treatment, extractions, periodontal diseases, gingivitis, root canal, crowns, or oral masses.

Additionally, Embrace provides flexible Wellness Rewards non-insurance preventative care coverage. This plan includes routine expenses such as vaccines, yearly checkups, regular exams, heartworm, flea, and tick prevention, spaying and neutering, grooming, training programs, and more. It is an add-on you must purchase separately from the basic accident and illness coverage. The Wellness Rewards grant cash benefits of about $25 per plan. This is a reimbursement plan that’s paid in full ova er 12-month term.

You can also opt for an accident-only insurance plan that covers anything accident-related.

Embrace Features

Embrace is a flexible and customer-centric pet insurance service. It offers a streamlined quotation process. You can get a customized quote over the phone or online by filling out a form with your pet’s

  • Species
  • Breed
  • Sex
  • Age
  • Zip code

After taking out the best pet insurance for your furry friend, Embrace sends you a registration link. This allows you to create a customer account and easily manage your policy online.

You can personalize your policy parameters based on your needs, for example, by increasing or decreasing your annual deductible, reimbursement rate, and maximum coverage.

Embrace Pricing Plans

The price of your premiums depends on your location and your pet’s age and breed. For example, for a 12-month female mixed-breed dog, the monthly premiums cost around $30. Insurance for a shorthair male cat of 6 months costs around $13 a month.

When you purchase an Embrace plan for the first time, you’ll also have to pay a one-time $25 activation fee.

Embrace Waiting Period

The waiting period to get reimbursed for illnesses is 14 days and 2 days for accidents. Orthopedic conditions (dogs only) require a longer waiting period of 6 months.

Reimbursement and Deductibles

The Embrace accident-only policy offers maximum coverage of $5,000 each year. It has a $100 yearly deductible and a reimbursement rate of up to 90%.

Embrace pet insurance is subject to healthy pet deductibles. For each year when you don’t get reimbursed for a claim, your deductible gets automatically reduced by $50.

Wellness Rewards allowances include three yearly options

  • $250
  • $450
  • $650

These determine the maximum reimbursement amount you receive as part of your routine care coverage.

Claims Process

To get reimbursed for illness-related expenses, an Embrace claims adjuster will perform a medical history review at the end of the 14-day waiting period. This assessment includes the pet’s veterinary records from the past 12 months before the date the policy is activated, chart notes, exam notes, and lab results.

Accident and illness claims are usually processed between 10 and 15 days and routine care claims require around 5 business days. You can easily submit and track claims online via the insurer’s website or app.
