What Does Progressive Pet Insurance Cover?

There are three types of coverage plans available that offer varying degrees of protection for your beloved cat or dog.

The BestBenefit Accident and Illness Plan is the most popular plan, offering comprehensive coverage that protects pets against the very worst accidents and illnesses.

The Accident Only Plan covers accidental injuries such as broken bones, bite wounds, and other common injuries that require veterinary treatment.

As you might expect, it’s much cheaper than the comprehensive package, making it great for people working to a tight budget.

Finally, the Wellness Routine Care Plan covers preventative care and is a great option for pet owners that need to make regular visits to the vet.

This level of coverage will help you pay for routine care including vet appointments, vaccinations, teeth cleaning, and more.

This coverage can also be added to the two plans above as a premium.

    Pro's

    • Plans can be bolstered with preventative care
    • No upper age limits
    • Quick reimbursements for claims

    Con's

    • Only covers cats and dogs

Progressive Pet Insurance Reimbursement and Deductibles

Progressive Pet Insurance offers three reimbursement amounts to help adjust your coverage pricing to your liking.

You have the choice of 70%, 80%, or 90% reimbursement of your vet bills for all covered illnesses. Deductibles are paid annually rather than monthly with two amounts available, $5000 or unlimited.

    Progressive Pet Insurance Waiting Period

There’s no minimum waiting period listed on Progressive’s website so it’s not clear how long you’ll have to wait once you’ve taken out your policy until it starts.

Thankfully, it’s more transparent with waiting periods when it comes to paying your claims; it’s got a five-day claim processing policy, with most claims paid out within two to five working days.

How Much Does Progressive Pet Insurance Cost?

Even with a 90% reimbursement option, it’s possible to take out a monthly cat insurance and insurance plans for dogs from as little as $1 a day.

Prices will vary depending on your location and the level of coverage you want for your pet, as well as your pet’s age and breed.

In the case of our four-year-old labrador, we were able to get a quote for $58 a month on the BestBenefit Plan with an 80% reimbursement. You can pay monthly, quarterly, or annually – whatever suits your budget best.

    Customer Service and Satisfaction

Progressive is somewhat of a rarity amongst pet insurance providers as it offers 24/7 customer support via live chat support and even via phone.

It’s only in recent years that Progressive has started providing insurance plans for pets, but reviews are generally positive from its users.

Our Rating – How Pawsome is Progressive Pet Insurance?

We’re always slightly apprehensive about insurance providers that specialize in other areas and only offer pet insurance as an add-on.

If you’re truly looking for the best levels of protection for your pets, it’s worth checking out more reputable pet insurance providers.

Pet Premium has a 30-day money-back guarantee, Healthy Paws has unlimited payouts and Pet Assure can help you save money on pet medication too.
