What Does Trusted Pals Pet Insurance Cover?

There are three main plans to choose from for cats and dogs. The basic accident and illness cover can help your pets get back on all four paws and there’s a relatively decent level of coverage provided. Trips to the vet, treatment, surgeries, medication including supplements, and pet food that’s prescribed by your vet are all covered as part of the insurance plan.

We looked into the fine print, and you won’t have to shell out extra for hereditary conditions, chronic conditions, or alternative and holistic treatments. Best of all, there are no restrictions on the aforementioned conditions.

But, if you feel like your pets need that extra layer of protection to keep them safe, you can spend a little extra and add Wellness to your dog pet insurance plan or cat plan. This includes coverage for heartworm testing & prevention, dental trauma and prevention, spaying or neutering, vaccinations, and an annual wellness exam to detect any potential issues before they become a problem.

    Pro's

    • No restrictions on chronic or hereditary conditions
    • 5% discount for vets, first responders and vets/animal workers
    • All states covered

    Con's

    • 12-month waiting period for ligament and hip dysplasia

Trusted Pals Pet Insurance Reimbursement and Deductibles

If you’re looking to lower the cost of your monthly payment, you can customize your plan with different reimbursement options by choosing to cover 0%, 10%, 20%, or 30% of your bills. Annual deductibles are also available in amounts of $100, $250, $500 and $750.

Trusted Pals Pet Insurance Waiting Period

There’s a 14-day waiting period until you can make a claim, which is the industry standard for most insurers. Claims can be made online via the website or by calling the team. The website doesn’t mention how quickly you’ll be paid and as Trusted Pals is a relatively new company, there isn’t much information from customers either, but the website does say you’ll be waiting a maximum of 14 working days.

How Much Does Trusted Pals Pet Insurance Cost?

As costs vary significantly depending on your pet, its age, breed, and your chosen deductible and reimbursement amounts, your best option is to visit the Trusted Pals website and create a free quote. For our three-year-old labrador Daisy, we asked for a quote with a deductible of $250 with a reimbursement of 80% with an annual limit of $15,000. Daisy, despite being a carefree girl, didn’t cost much to protect: just $49 per month.

    Customer Service and Satisfaction

You’d hope this pet insurance provider’s reputation lives up to its name. Thankfully, from what we can see online, it does. While there aren’t many reviews at the time of writing from its customers, many of them are positive.

Our Rating – How Pawsome is Trusted Pals Pet Insurance?

If you’re a first responder and have multiple pets, you can bag yourself a discount of 10%, making Trusted Pals a great option. Unfortunately, a 12-month waiting period for hip dysplasia lets it down for certain breeds, so if you want coverage for this, try PetPremium instead. If the discounts at Trusted Pals aren’t your thing, you can grab an additional 15% off medications if you’re using Pet Assure, while Healthy Paws delivers an impressive 98% of claims within two days.
